Was Mozart Poisoned?!
So Mozart is dead. Who actually cares? He died in 1791, why is he still relevant?!
His music is great but like whatever. But his death is actually really cool! There's a rumor going around, since two weeks after his death that he was poisoned! You read that right! Mozart was poisoned! By a friend no less!...So we think.
Someone started spreading the rumor through a weekly musical journal and was seriously messed up. No one was thinking that he was poisoned until this guy named Karl Spazier was like "lol, let's screw with people" and published it with no real evidence besides the fact that Mozart's body was "inflamed." The doctors already explained why but this guy had to be difficult.
Then, more conspiracy theories! Yay! Some people think that it was his friend, Salieri. The problem with this is Salieri is completely irrelevant when it comes to Mozart. But, as we all know, conspiracy theories make 0 sense. Salieri was rich and living the dream while Mozart was poor af. But, even though this was complete bs, plays and even a hit movie was made.
Although, before Mozart fell ill, he was visited by a mysterious person asking for a piece. The person was masked and Mozart said that the person appeared to him like a ghost. He quickly fell sick after. SPOOPY!!!
Some modern doctors think he actually died of kidney disease. But there are problems... Mozart's sickness wasn't actually recorded well because they were like, "Oh! You're sick with the same thing that is spreading all across Vienna!" and didn't care to record anything further. The only way we know anything except the fact he actually died is thanks to his sister-in-law. The doctors didn't even write an official death certificate for him cause why would you need one for a great composer?
The kidney disease theory has some problems, like he would've been thirsty. Like hella, a major symptom of kidney disease. Some other modern doctors believe theorize that he was poisoned!
But hold up! The theory states that he was poisoned by his doctors who poisoned him with mercury!
But it wasn't their fault! They didn't know any better! They thought it would help! This is only a theory though. Mercury attacks the body the same way as kidney disease but with different symptoms and due to the lack of knowledge surrounding his death, it's hard to really tell what happened.
